Fun, fearless, and phenomenally talented, Maria is the owner and creative director of Red Door Hair Studio – one of Liverpool’s most exciting boutique salons. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, including a long-standing career with Toni & Guy, Maria comes from a family of hairdressers in Argentina. Sha is a colour specialist and has worked on TV in Argentina, collaborated on training and catwalks for Toni & Guy in Spain, trained in keratin treatments in Paris, and has toured Spain and Portugal teaching about hair extensions and keratin treatments.
After two and a half decades working in high-profile salons, Maria made the bold decision to break away and open her own space. Red Door Hair Studio was born during lockdown – a time of uncertainty for many, but for Maria, it was the perfect opportunity to bring her creative vision to life. She transformed a cosy attic space on Rodney Street (affectionately known as the “Harley Street of the North”) into a haven for individuality and self-expression. Today, Red Door proudly calls Liverpool’s bustling business district its home.
What do you love about your job? I love the atmosphere of a salon. The energy. People enjoying preparing themselves for a party, a new stage in life or just for every day life prioritising self care. Love the nurturing process of ‘feeling good’.
Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair? What inspires me to create faboulous hair is my client background and aims. It could go from striking colour visuals and sharp shapes to low maintainance colours with an extremely curated cut for easy styling and long lasting results.
What is your ultimate ambition? My ultimate ambition is for me and my client to have a positive and nurturing experience that exceeds the one of only a good hair but to create connection and lasting relationships where we feel safe and supported.
