The hottest hair trends of spring/summer 2022

Spring is nearly upon us, which means there’s one thing on our mind…summer hair.

The hair boss, Maria, gives us the lowdown on the hottest hair trends of spring/summer 2022

Forget summer bodies are made in winter, we’re all about summer hairstyles being made in the spring.

To help you look your best during the best season of the year the hair boss, Maria, gives us the lowdown on the hottest hair trends of spring/summer 2022.

“Spring/summer is always the time that people want a hair refresh. Nights get lighter, beer gardens become a thing again and life just becomes more, well, more fun.

With more social events in the diary and people making up for lost summers spent indoors during the pandemic, more clients are wanting to look and feel their best throughout the summer months.

In previous years, most clients want to go lighter or experiment with bright, semi-permanent colours like a pastel pink or purple in the summer. But this year, there’s been a shift to embracing more natural styles and textures, which often, are easier to style and maintain.”

So without further ado, here’s the boss’s run down of the hottest hair trends of summer 2022. (Pinterests boards and screenshotting tools at the ready…

The big blowout

“A classic blowout has taken a backseat in recent years in favor of more laid back, wanded waves.

But waves are over and big bouncy blows are officially back in. Think full-bodied, glossy hair that is preened, polished and beautifully presented - think classic 90s blowout hair that has the sophisticated glam of the upper east side.”

Blair Waldorf… we’re coming for you.

Natural curls & texture

“If you’re not luxe enough for the blowout, the good news is that natural curls and textures are also coming back in a big way.

Whilst this might feel like a low maintenance style, for it to look its best you’d need to look after it with regular cuts (to avoid frizzy ends) and the right styling products (to keep it in the best condition and fight flyaways).

To make the most out of the look, get your hair cut every 4 to 6 weeks (depending on length), air dry to avoid damage and use curl friendly styling products such as a curl cream or a nourishing oil such an argan or coconut oil.”

Natural texture (for those with a little less bounce)

“Like I said, natural texture is back but not everyone is blessed with the natural bounce of thick, voluminous curls. If your hair is on the thinner side, you can still embrace your natural texture.

Coined ‘barely there hair’ by the Hollywood hair stylists, this natural, effortless style that screams cool girl without the need for excessive styling or fuss.

To achieve the look with minimal effort, after washing, air-dry your hair, work an air-dry cream into lengths and let it dry naturally.”

‘Barely there makeup’ but for your hair, safe to say we approve.

The french bob

“The bob was the hairstyle of 2021 and it’s here to stay. Whether it’s a classic, long or graduated it’s not going anywhere in 2022 and the bob that’s making the comeback is the french one.

This Parisian style bob is known for its cheekbone skimming cut and face framing bangs, making it the ultimate go-to style for the daring woman who wants a short, manageable hair cut.”

Warm ginger tones

“Trends of auburn tones have been emerging over the winter months and this is only set to increase as we move further into 2022.

This summer, on trend hues will be bright and unapologetic, meaning that if you want to embody this trend you’ll need to get it done by a colourist that really knows what they’re doing.

Red tones are notoriously hard to work with when applying colour to hair, I’d always recommend keeping strands protected by using bond-restoring treatment such as Olaplex.”
